Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop

Two ways in: the same connector as claude.ai (easiest), or an API key in Claude Desktop's config file.

Option 1: connector (recommended)

Add Chickendinner as a custom connector by following the Claude web guide. Connectors sync to Claude Desktop on the same account, so it appears there too.

Option 2: API key

  1. Create a key

    Go to Dashboard → Connect to AI and create one called "Claude Desktop". Copy it: it starts with rok_.

  2. Install Node.js

    The bridge below runs with Node.js. If npx --version doesn't work in a terminal, install Node.js (LTS) from nodejs.org first.

  3. Open the config file

    In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Developer → Edit Config. This opens claude_desktop_config.json.

  4. Add Chickendinner

    Add this inside the file, with your key in place of the example:

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "chickendinner": {
          "command": "npx",
          "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://chickendinner.ai/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${CHICKENDINNER_AUTH}"],
          "env": { "CHICKENDINNER_AUTH": "Bearer rok_your_key" }
        }
      }
    }

    If the file already has other servers, add the Chickendinner entry next to them inside mcpServers.

  5. Restart Claude Desktop fully

    Quit from the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac), not just the window, then open it again. Chickendinner appears in the tools menu of a new chat.

Edit with Claude Desktop closed

Claude Desktop can save its settings over the config file while it's running. If your change disappears, quit it fully, edit the file, then reopen it.
